BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in Toronto.

DRUMMOND-DORRANCE FELLOW, RESIDENT ARTIST, SOULPEPPER 2019: Director: The Virgin Trial, Wedding at Aulis.

FOR SOULPEPPER: Acting Artistic Director 2018. Director: Idomeneus, The Goat or, Who Is Sylvia?, Incident at Vichy, The Last Wife, CRASH, Happy Place; Eurydice, Twelve Angry Men, La Ronde. Soulpepper Training Company 1999.

OTHER THEATRE: Alan has directed across Canada and internationally. In addition to directing established texts and his own writing, he has brought over 20 new Canadian plays to the stage, including acclaimed premieres of works by Kate Hennig, Erin Shields, Pamela Mala Sinha, Hannah Moscovitch and Andrew Kushnir. Upcoming: Mother’s Daughter, Stratford Festival.
