CATHERINE JOELL MACKINNON
Catherine is a co-founder and the Festival Director of the Toronto International Deaf Film and Arts Festival. She is an award-winning filmmaker and internationally known for her work in documentaries, film and television. Catherine was the recipient of the ACTRA Woman of the Year Award 2016. Catherine was a Deaf Community Consultant, for DATT-Deaf Artists and Theatres Toolkit, Cahoots Theatre for two years. She also performed as the ASL/DI for the production of ULTRASOUND & ENCHANTED LOOM. She also served as an ASL coach & Continuity for Fargo (season one, 2014) the Emmy & Golden Globe winner, for "Best limited series, or motion picture made for television" and was asked to return as an ASL Coach for Season 3 (2017). Catherine also established the National Deaf Youths Film and Arts Workshop to inspire young people to get into filmmaking and in the arts field.
