Sarah Wilson was born in Sudbury, Ontario.
SOULPEPPER 2024: De Profundis: Oscar Wilde in Jail (Lyricist); Billie, Sarah & Ella: Revolutionary Women in Jazz (written with Divine Brown)
FOR SOULPEPPER: (Writing) Sarah has written, co-written, or arranged scripts for several concerts at Soulpepper, including The Golden Record; A Moveable Feast: Paris in the 1920s; The 27 Club; The Promised Land: Steinbeck in Song; Sympathy for the Devil (with Raha Javanfar); and Billie, Ella & Sarah (with Divine Brown). She’s co-written two musicals, De Profundis: Oscar Wilde in Jail (with Gregory Prest and Mike Ross) and Rose (with Mike Ross), both of which won the Dora Award for Best New Musical. (Acting) Soulpepper was Sarah’s first job after graduating theatre school in 2002, and that summer she performed in The Winter’s Tale and A Chorus of Disapproval. Some acting highlights from over the years include La Bête, Animal Farm, Spoon River, Of Human Bondage, The Heidi Chronicles, Oleanna, Speed-The-Plow, Awake and Sing!, As You Like It, Three Sisters, Jitters, Travesties, and Black Comedy & The Real Inspector Hound.
ELSEWHERE: Sarah has acted at the Stratford Festival, Canadian Stage, Theatre Aquarius, and Thousand Islands Playhouse, and she can be heard narrating the audiobook Hope by Terry Fox (ECW Press). She’s written several concerts with Mike Ross for Harmony House PEI. She trained at George Brown Theatre School, Stratford’s Birmingham Conservatory, and the inaugural Soulpepper Academy.
