Introducing: Public Domain

Soulpepper Theatre is thrilled to launch Public Domain, an open access invitation into a hub of culture and creativity within the Distillery District. With year round free and accessible public programming, Public Domain offers new ways to gather with your fellow Torontonians.

Public Domain is a place for you to encounter people and ideas; develop skills and knowledge; and follow your creative instincts towards exciting new possibilities.

As a key pillar of Soulpepper’s transformation plan, Stories For A Stronger City, Public Domain aims to strengthen social connection and civic life through participation in the arts. Join us in reimagining what a theatre company can be. This is your domain.

What's On

With the introduction of Public Domain, Soulpepper is reimagining what an arts institution can be—an open, welcoming space where creativity and connection thrive. At a time when loneliness in Toronto is at an all-time high, we believe the arts have a crucial role to play in bringing people together. This initiative is about breaking down barriers, fostering a sense of belonging, and making sure that everyone in Toronto has access to the transformative power of artistic expression. We can’t wait to see the community come together and make Public Domain their own.

- Gideon Arthurs, Executive Director

A lot of the people who participate in Public Domain programming come from surrounding vertical neighbourhoods where they experience a lack of community. It’s a special feeling to witness neighbours meeting each other for the first time when they attend a workshop or event at Soulpepper!

- Rohan Kulkarni, Director of Social Impact
