Staff Profile – Sarah Noyes, Head of Wardrobe
How long have you worked for Soulpepper and tell us a little bit about what you do.
I started working for Soulpepper six years ago as a dresser, soon after finishing my time at Ryerson University. This is my first year as Head of Wardrobe, a job which consists of organizing, budgeting, shopping and making sure everything runs smoothly in the shop and on stage.
This summer is a very busy time in the department, shopping and building for four productions which require everything from clown noses to winter gloves. It is challenging, but with all the wonderful and hard working Wardrobe staff we will achieve all our goals!
What kinds of shows/productions/events have you been involved in and what have you been working on lately?
Today I am working on The Royal Comedians, but every day is different depending on what is needed for each show. I’m kept on my toes. There is never a dull day in Wardrobe.
My first production here at Soulpepper was King Lear and I will never forget how welcoming all the actors were especially William Webster.
When you’re not at work, what are you doing?
When I am not at work I am working on my new house and garden and playing with my bulldog Daphne. Her new favorite game is discovering how many shoes she can chew.
What do you love about being a part of the staff at Soulpepper/Young Centre?
The thing I love most about Soulpepper is that we are a big family and all look after each other. I am very grateful for all the opportunities I have been given here at Soulpepper.
