"It is already impossible to imagine Soulpepper without the Slaight Family Music Program. The artists and our audiences are deeply grateful for the Slaights great generosity!" - Albert Schultz, Artistic Director

In 2013, The Slaight Family made an extraordinary 5-year, $1.1 million contribution to Soulpepper to support music initiatives. These initiatives will ensure the vitality of music at Soulpepper through the exploration and expansion of musical enrichment in all our programming.

Led by the inaugural Slaight Family Director of Music, Mike Ross, the Slaight Family Music program has and will continue to engage some of Toronto's most acclaimed musical talents in the expansion of Soulpepper's use of music as a powerful storytelling device and as a central artistic presence in the work we produce. In addition, this gift will make music a key component of all our efforts in outreach, education, and community building for audiences of all ages.

For the last several years Soulpepper has been incorporating music as a central artistic presence in the plays that we produce including Alligator Pie, (re)Birth: E.E. Cummings in Song, Civil Elegies, and The Fantasticks. This past year alone, with the support of Gary, Donna and Ada Slaight we have added to this with Idiot's Delight, Of Human Bondage, and Spoon River; all of which benefited from the musical leadership of Mike Ross.

Soulpepper also created the first of our annual Concert Series featuring brilliant artists such as Jackie Richardson and Patricia O'Callaghan, as well as a weekly Cabaret Series with Murray MacLauchlan, Denzal Sinclaire, Tom Allen and many more!

With many thanks to Gary, Donna, Ada, and the entire Slaight Family, Soulpepper looks forward to sharing this exciting musical work with our loyal audiences for years to come!
