ABOUT THE ACADEMY

The Soulpepper Academy develops highly skilled theatre artists equipped to make meaningful contributions in rehearsal halls and across Canada’s cultural landscape. The season-long paid training program centres artistic excellence, collaboration, inclusion, and care.

We’re thrilled to welcome five talented artists to the Soulpepper Academy: Noah Beemer, Jake Bunyan, Jasmine Case, Olivia Neary-Hatton, and Anaka Maharaj-Sandhu.

This season these artists will develop their craft alongside some of the country’s leading theatre-makers while becoming fully immersed in the artistic life of a major professional theatre company.

For 20 years, the Academy has helped shape some of Canada’s most influential performers, creators, and artistic leaders. Its graduates include Soulpepper’s current and former Artistic Directors, Paolo Santalucia and Weyni Mengesha, as well as Ins Choi, Akosua Amo-Adem, Nicole Power, Mumbi Tindyebwa Otu, and many more.

The main thing I’m taking away from this Academy experience is a deeper sense of confidence and understanding of myself as an artist...I now have a deeper appreciation for the kinds of aesthetics, styles, and content I want to explore.
