Soulpepper Academy
ABOUT THE ACADEMY
The Soulpepper Academy develops highly skilled theatre artists equipped to make meaningful contributions in rehearsal halls and across Canada’s cultural landscape. The 26-week paid training program centres artistic excellence, collaboration, inclusion, and care.
An external assessment prepared for Canadian Heritage described the Academy as a “revolutionary, forward-thinking program” that is unique within Canada, with a model of instruction that compares highly with programs offered internationally. Past faculty have included leading Canadian artists such as d’bi.young anitafrika, Ins Choi, Ravi Jain, Kim Collier, Gregory Prest, Guillermo Verdecchia, and Weyni Mengesha.
This year’s Academy focuses on musical storytelling and creation. Members were selected for their distinctive musical talents and strengths as collaborators, creators, and performers. Through rehearsals, classes, studio intensives, and workshops, they will develop their artistic voices alongside renowned faculty.
